Port Gibson sweeps Jefferson County in baseball doubleheader

PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — The Port Gibson High School baseball team earned a pair of dominant wins over Jefferson County High School in a doubleheader last week, taking the games 15-1 and 17-0. The victories improved the Blue Waves’ record to 7-2 on the season under Coach Lucas.

In Game 1, Kimontae Crutison threw a no-hitter and struck out eight batters to lead Port Gibson to a 15-1 victory. Crutison also contributed at the plate with a double.

Michael Evans had a strong performance offensively, recording two hits, including a double and a triple, and driving in two runs.

Nathan Jones finished with one hit and one RBI, while Centrell Hedrick added one hit.

In Game 2, the Blue Waves needed only two innings to secure a 17-0 win.

Jones hit a double in the victory, while Braylon Carter collected one hit and two RBIs. Evans and Hedrick each finished with a hit and one RBI, and Fudarrius Wilson also added a hit.

Akeem Wells pitched one inning, striking out two batters and allowing no hits.
