Schyler Morgan takes over as Head Football Cheerleading Coach at Warren Central
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Schyler Morgan has officially taken over as head football cheerleading coach at Warren Central. The 2020 Warren Central alumna returns to her roots after spending the past few years cheering in college.
“I honestly never thought that I would be a coach, but it’s always been a dream of mine,” Morgan said.
Morgan began cheering at age 5, and over the years her competitive teams won numerous titles. After cheering for Warren Central through high school, she signed with Pearl River Community College. At PRCC, she helped the program win the Universal Cheerleaders Association College National Championship in Orlando, Florida.
After graduating from PRCC, Morgan went on to cheer at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. She said she made plenty of memories at Drury, but she was chasing a second national title that never came. That pursuit, she added, has now led her back to Warren Central.
“This is why I’m here,” she said. “I’m chasing another title, and I hope that I can do it with these young ladies.”
Morgan got her first glimpse of her new team Friday at the preseason football scrimmage. Although her hiring came at the last minute, she said she has already put together a plan with football season less than a week away.
“This year we’re going to really focus on game day, and we’re not going to compete just because of how last minute everything is,” she said. “We have some really good personalities and great athletes here.”
The 2025 cheer captains are Kaylee Doyle, Mia Grace Owen, Addilyn Wilson, McKinley Phillips and Sydney Sullivan.
After the football season, Morgan said the squad will shift its focus to skill training in preparation for competition next year. She also works as part of the UCA staff.
Fans can catch Morgan and the Warren Central cheerleaders this Friday when the Vikings travel to face Clinton High School.
