Shooting at the “Smoke Break” Leaves 1 Injured, Suspect Sought
VICKSBURG, Miss. – An ongoing dispute between two individuals resulted in a shooting this morning at the gas station at the corner of Clay and Cherry Street, known as the “Smoke Break”, leaving one injured. This is the second shooting at that location since Saturday, and the third shooting in six weeks.
At around 10:30 a.m. the Vicksburg Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at the Smoke Break at the intersection of Clay and Cherry Street.
In a Vicksburg Daily News Live, Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones said that VPD are reviewing footage to identify the suspect to make an arrest. Jones also stated at the time that one individual was injured in the shooting and would be transported to Jackson, their condition is unknown at this time.
Chief Jones also confirmed that action will be taken on the business. This would not be the first time that a business has been shut down over incidents occurring outside of an establishment. The Klondyke, Jacques, LD’s, and the Watermark have all had business either interrupted, or in Jacques case, closed for good due to incidents that have occurred.
