RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. – A South Carolina man driving an 18-wheeler was arrested near Clinton early Sunday morning after leading authorities on a multi-county chase. The man was later identified as David Sergey Pozdnyakov of Duncan, South Carolina.

According to reports, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was alerted at approximately 12:19 a.m. that the truck, previously pursued by Louisiana State Police, was traveling westbound into Rankin County from Scott County.

A Rankin County Deputy located the vehicle near the 56-mile marker on Interstate 20 and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Pearl Police assisted by deploying spike strips near the 52-mile marker, which the truck struck before continuing westward. The pursuit moved through Jackson and ended in Clinton, where the truck finally came to a stop.

According to reports, Pozdnyakov barricaded himself in the truck’s cab. Officers broke the driver’s window to make an arrest.

Pozdnyakov faces charges of felony fleeing, DUI, disobeying a police officer, and careless driving, with additional charges possible in both Mississippi and Louisiana.
