National Telecommunicators Week kicks off on April 14. Vicksburg Warren 911 has several telecommunication professionals who work day and night to keep you safe. This series of articles will highlight each one.

Telecommunicator David Bufkin is featured in this week’s tribute to our 911 dispatchers, a critical link in the first responder chain.

David has been with Vicksburg Warren 911 for 13 years. During that time, he has served as a dispatcher, a lead, and a supervisor. He retired for a short while and came back.

He started dispatching in 1984, just after high school. This coming May will mark 40 years of wearing the headset.

He also served 25 years as a Firefighter/EMT for the Crystal Springs Volunteer Fire Department. David grew up in Crystal Springs and moved to Vicksburg for their Catholic School System, from which both his boys, Alex and Andy, graduated. During his off time, he loves spending time with his family and animals.
