Thieves attempt another breakin at Battlefield, one in custody, two on the run

In the early hours of the morning, an attempted burglary at Battlefield Discount Drugs on Indiana Avenue resulted in a wrecked vehicle and one person captured.
According to Owner John Storey, the incident occurred at 4:08 a.m. when thieves attempted to break into the store. Storey said in a text message that the thieves “saw cops” and sped off.
Moments later their vehicle wrecked at the intersection of Old Highway 27 and North Frontage Road.
One person in the vehicle was captured and two others, described over radio traffic as two males in dark clothing, took off down the railroad tracks in that area. No direction of travel was provided nor was any further information from the VPD on the location of the two suspects.
This is the second attempt to break into Battlefield Discount Drugs in the past 8 days. Helping Hand Family Pharmacy was also burglarized earlier this week.
