GoFundMe account set up in memory of slain 16-year-old

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family of Henry Trilby III, a 16-year-old Warren Central High School student-athlete was fatally shot during an incident at New Main Apartments in Vicksburg on September 25.

Trilby was a sophomore who loved playing football and basketball, and was pronounced dead after sustaining gunshot wounds.

A 14-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. His family has established a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses as the community processes the loss of a young athlete with his entire future ahead of him.

The following is a description on the fundraising page from the family:

“Our family is heartbroken and trying to cope with the unimaginable loss of my little brother, who was taken from us far too soon due to gun violence.

He was a sophomore at Warren Central High School, where he was known not only as a student, but as an athlete who loved playing football and basketball. He had so much life ahead of him, so many dreams, and so much more to experience.

Since his passing, so many people have reached out to our mother through calls and messages asking, “What can I give her?” “How can I help?” and “What can I do for the family?”

Because so many people have asked how they can support her, we decided to create this GoFundMe.

Any donations received will help our family with the expenses that come with laying our loved one to rest and giving him the farewell he deserves. More importantly, your support will remind our mother and our entire family that we are not alone during this devastating time.
