The Christmas parade is coming back to Vicksburg.

Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 5 p.m., the Downtown Vicksburg Main Street Program hosts the annual Christmas Parade of Lights beginning at Belmont and Washington streets, and proceeding to Washington and Jackson streets.

The parade, themed “Toyland” this year, will include area schools, organizations and groups located in Vicksburg. and of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

“We include the schools, churches, businesses and dance groups around town,” said DVMSP director Kim Hopkins. “Anybody can be in the parade. It’s an event for everybody.”

Each organization is creating a unique and eye catching float for the parade.

“All of the floats are wonderful,” Hopkins said. “Everyone has put a lot of time into making them, and the community enjoys them. They’re shown at night and light up the streets.”

For more information or to join the march down Washington St. contact the Downtown Vicksburg Main Street Program at 601-634-4527.

“It’s just a good time to come down,” she said. “This is a family event and everyone is welcome.”
