Warren Central stays undefeated in district with 36-6 win over Greenville on homecoming night

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School remained undefeated in district play Friday night after defeating Greenville 36-6 at Viking Stadium. The Vikings made a statement early, scoring all of their points in the first half.
It was also a record-setting night for quarterback Nash Morgan, who became Warren Central’s all-time passing yards leader. After throwing for 123 yards, Morgan surpassed his uncle Rob Morgan’s previous record. He now holds the school record with 3,423 career passing yards.

The victory also marked a milestone for head coach Josh Morgan, who became the third-winningest coach in Warren County history with 116 career wins.

Warren Central struck early when Morgan connected with Mike Hall on a 20-yard touchdown pass. Morgan ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. After a big defensive hit by Chaka Walker forced Greenville to punt, Morgan found Caleb Lane for a 30-yard touchdown. Jonah Artman’s extra point extended the lead to 15-0. As time expired in the first quarter, TKylan Wright added a sack to cap off the defensive effort.

The Vikings dominated the second quarter with three more touchdowns. Fred Mixon ran in a 1-yard score, caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Morgan, and Jonas Green returned an interception 30 yards for another touchdown. Artman hit the next two extra points and Nick Lee nailed the third one to make it 36-0 at halftime.
In the second half, a running clock was enforced. Fabien Davenport recorded a strong tackle, and Blake Caruthers caught a 20-yard pass from Morgan before Greenville finally scored late in the fourth quarter to make the final 36-6. KJ Wynn also broke out on a 23 yard run. Javid Scott rushed for over 60 yards and Xavier Jackson rushed for over 40 yards.
Warren Central improved to 5-2 overall and 6-0 in district play. The Vikings will travel to face Neshoba Central next Friday.
