Warren Central Junior High School is now the 2024 Little Six Champions after defeating Brandon 26-7 on Tuesday night in the championship game.

“We’ve been chasing this for a while now and we finally got it,” quarterback Cameron Zellous said. “We put in hard work all year and it showed tonight.”

Huge plays contributed to the Vikings’ win as they continued to stay on top throughout most of the game.

“Our coaches have been preaching to us all year about consistency and tonight it showed that we got the message,” Doss Morgan said.

WCJHS got possession of the ball early in the first quarter after Michael Davis caught an interception. The Vikings scored first as Zellous hit Morgan on a 45-yard touchdown pass to go up 6-0.

The Viking defense came up with multiple stops, including a sack from Javion just before the end of the first quarter.

With 2:44 left in the second quarter, the Bulldogs took the lead after a 46-yard touchdown pass. WCJHS didn’t let that discourage them as Zellous got a 65-yard kickoff return touchdown while Jordan Younger earned the successful 2-point conversion.

With less than a minute left in the first half, Brandon went to their passing game but Braylen Selvy caught the interception to put WC in good field position. A few plays later Davis ran it in for a touchdown to put the score at 20-7 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime Morgan gained some big yards on a kick return. A trick play would eventually lead to Morgan’s pass being intercepted but he quickly made a big third down stop a few plays later. WCJHS’ defense continued to dominate throughout the third quarter as Zellous blasted a wide receiver and Javion forced a fumble.

Just before the end of the third quarter Doss caught a 30-yard pass from Zellous and Selvy caught a 26-yard pass. Zellous ran in the short touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to give the Vikings the 26-7 lead.

Brandon went back to the passing game as time was expiring until Morgan jumped up and caught the interception in the end zone.

Tonight’s win ended the Vikings’ season with a 7-0 record and marked Head Coach Louis Green’s first championship.

“I’m just excited for the kids because they did all the work for this and this shows the future for Viking football is bright,” Green said.
