Woman alleges man filmed her in tanning bed

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Warren County woman confronted a man she alleges was filming her while she was tanning at an area gym.

“I saw a phone with a note saying it was recording data and thought that was weird,” said the victim, whose name is being withheld at this time. “I called my mom and we both agreed it was strange.” At about that time, the power went out in the tanning booth. Grabbing the phone, the woman walked out into the hallway when a man approached her, saying, “I’m recording data.”

According to the woman, the man claimed he was recording heat data in the tanning bed area.

The woman walked away from him as he continued towards her. “I didn’t know where to go, and he was kind of on me, so I went into the ladies’ side just to get away from him,” said the woman. “He didn’t care about that.” As the man grew closer to her, she went back to the tanning bed side where two other women were standing. “That’s where he actually got on me to grab his phone from me. I was trying to hold on tight (to his phone), but he got it away from me.”

After the physical confrontation, the man fled from the scene. “He just started running and I chased after him,” explained the woman. “Then he went into a ditch, and I lost him.”

Vicksburg Police were notified, and two officers arrived. The victim also spoke with an investigator later in the day.

Vicksburg Police Captain Curtis Judge responded to a request for information from the Vicksburg Daily News. Captain Judge reported, “Vicksburg Police are currently investigating an incident where a recording device was found in the tanning booth area of an area gym(name redacted). Vicksburg Police are looking for Zane Bearrick for questioning about the incident.”
