18-year-old killed after tree fell on Natchez home

Natchez, Miss.-Tragedy struck Natchez, Mississippi on Saturday night when a tree fell on top of a home which resulted in the death of a teen. The incident happened on Westwood Road and the deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Tykeria Rogers.

According to multiple reports, two other individuals were also inside the but made it out safely. First Responders arrived at the scene around 6 p.m. to clear branches and helped entrapped individuals but Rogers succumbed to her injuries.

“I am rarely at a loss to find the right words or formulate a meaningful message suitable for a moment,” Natchez-Adams School District Superintendent Zandra McDonald told the Natchez Democrat. “But, tonight I had no words,” she said. “When my daughter told me the news that was being shared, I thought surely not TyKeria.” 

Rogers was also a cheer captain at Natchez High School. A gofundme has been created to help the family during this difficult time.
