VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — When the St. Aloysius softball team takes the field this Friday, it will mark the start of something special: sisters Madison and Mallory Spencer teaming up as a catcher-pitcher duo with one goal — to dominate the diamond together.

Madison, a Hinds Community College commit and senior captain, returns behind the plate for her final season, while her younger sister Mallory is stepping into the spotlight as the Flashes’ newest starting pitcher. It’s been four years since the team has had a freshman on the mound — and this year, all eyes are on the Spencer sisters.

“This season means a lot, especially with me being one of the seniors and captains,” Madison said. “Personally, it’s special to be catching for my little sister this year, and it’s an honor I’ll never forget.”

Known for letting her performance speak louder than words, Madison is coming off a standout junior season where she hit .426 with 29 hits and 19 RBIs. Her leadership helped guide the Flashes to their first winning season in a decade — but she says she’s not done yet.

“I want us to grow as a team, do great, go far, hopefully win a championship, make tons of memories with my sister, and go out with a bang,” she said.

Mallory, an incoming freshman, is ready to rise to the challenge on the mound after striking out 30 batters as an eighth grader last year. She also picked up 21 hits and 12 RBIs — and now she’s focused on building a full varsity career from the ground up.

“I’m super excited because we’ve worked hard for this, and it’s finally our time,” Mallory said. “I’ve been ready for this moment, and it’s going to be even better with my sister by my side.”

The Spencer sisters will be under the direction of head coach Mike Foley as the Lady Flashes open their season Friday on the road against Manchester Academy.
