Vicksburg, Warren Central freshmen boys earn Thursday night victories

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School freshmen each delivered strong performances Thursday night as both boys’ basketball teams secured wins. Vicksburg defeated Clinton 71-58, while Warren Central knocked off Germantown 57-48.

For the Gators, Chareck Cable led the way with 22 points in a dominant scoring effort. Daylon Washington added 17 points, and Daylen Atkins contributed 15 to help secure the double-digit victory. Cayleb Logan knocked down three 3-pointers, giving Vicksburg another boost offensively. Gerrick Durrell finished with six points, J. Griffin added two and Ayden Smothers scored one.

Warren Central also had a balanced attack in its win. Jordan Taylor paced the Vikings with 17 points, while Braylen Selvy scored 12. Jarrad Williams and Ja’Ven Lee each added 11 points to help keep WC in control throughout the night. Cameron Zellous, Semiko Moody and Henry Trisby chipped in two points apiece.

All stats are reported by the school.

Both teams will look to build on the momentum as they continue their early-season schedules.
