VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Alfred Jamere Smith, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, departed this world on December 14, 2025, at the age of 39. He was born on August 28, 1986, and grew up with a vibrant spirit that brightened the lives of all who knew him. Alfred was a proud graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he received his diploma in 2004, setting the foundation for a life filled with ambition and service.

In 2007, he answered the call to duty and enlisted in the army, proudly serving his country while stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. His time in the military was a testament to his dedication and bravery, and he carried the values learned there throughout his life.

Alfred had a remarkable ability to connect with people, forging bonds that transcended distance. He and his loving wife, Jaleesa, shared moments of joy and laughter that will forever echo in the hearts of those who witnessed their love. He leaves behind cherished memories, not only with Jaleesa but also with his father, Alfred; grandfather, Dave; mother-in-law, Nita; sisters, Tookie and Qua; brother, Jaron; and countless nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were touched by his kindness.

His journey took him through the landscapes of Georgia, Indiana, and Alabama, before coming full circle back to the roots of Mississippi, where he built a life that was rich in love and friendship. Each place he called home added to the tapestry of memories that now serve as a heartfelt reminder of his laughter and his caring nature.

Alfred’s warmth will be missed profoundly, especially by those who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Gray Smith; his maternal grandmother, Mary Gray; his paternal grandmother, Mary Smith; and his paternal grandfather, West Brown, Jr. Their cherished memories are now interwoven into the legacy that he leaves behind.

A memorial service to celebrate Alfred’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, 4:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
