VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —Mrs. Vinia G. Broadwater passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the age of 92.
She was born on August 3, 1933, the daughter of Leslie Benton Goodson and Ruby Lillie Slade Goodson. She was a fine Christian woman. She was raised on a farm in Smith County and enjoyed taking music lessons and piano. She also loved singing gospel songs.
After marriage, she and her husband, Leslie, lived in Florence, and then moved to Vicksburg, where she resided most of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of First Pentecostal Church in Vicksburg as long as her health permitted. She had a very loving nature but sometimes slightly mischievous, and a great sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William L. Broadwater, son William E. Broadwater; brothers Willie Ray Goodson, Milton E. Goodson, Samuel B. Goodson and Ardelle Goodson; sisters Myrtis Harrison, Mildred Schuetzle, Lillie Mae Sims and Juanita Thrasher.
She is survived by her brother Joseph A. Goodson (Vermelle) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery under the direction of
Glenwood Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Bro. Don James, with music by Becky James.
