Sandlot Legends 10U won the Grand Slam March Madness Tournament
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Sandlot Legends 10U opened their spring season in championship fashion Sunday, March 1, 2026, taking home the title at the Grand Slam March Madness Tournament presented by Triple Play Sports.
In the championship game, #1 Andrew Amborn delivered a lights-out performance on the mound, throwing a no-hitter to lead the Legends to a dominant 13–1 victory over the 10U Jackson Jax. Amborn’s command, composure, and competitive edge earned him Game MVP honors and sealed an impressive tournament run for the team.
The Legends fought their way through bracket play earlier in the day, starting with an 8–6 win over the Small Town Giants 10U. After falling behind early, Sandlot exploded for eight runs in a single inning to flip the momentum and take control of the game.
They followed that with a 10–7 victory over the MS Orioles 10U, using aggressive base running, timely hitting, and steady pitching to punch their ticket to the championship round.
But it was the title game that will be remembered, Amborn’s no-hitter, backed by strong defense and consistent offense, capped off a remarkable opening tournament performance.
With grit, teamwork, and standout individual efforts, the Sandlot Legends 10U start the season undefeated and crowned champions, a strong statement for what’s ahead this spring.
The 10U Sandlot Legends are coached by Shane Lewis, Roosevelt Brown & Dan Muirhead.
