Drug Take Back Day set for Saturday
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County Sheriff Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration have teamed up to participate in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a nationwide initiative.
Locally, the event is set for Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. WCSO will be on hand at the Outlets at Vicksburg, 4000 S. Frontage Road. Take Back Day is free and anonymous.
This is the time to properly dispose of tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs.
For the past 16 years DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has helped Americans safely dispose of unneeded medications- those that are old, unwanted or expired- to prevent drug misuse and abuse.
With over 4,200 drop off sites nationwide, the program has collected more than 20.4 million pounds (10,200 tons) of medication from circulation since its inception.
Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
