Vicksburg’s Alex “Rooster” Weathers III named defensive coordinator at Berea Middle School

BEREA, Ky. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Alex “Rooster” Weathers III has been named the defensive coordinator at Berea Middle School in Kentucky. He also will serve as the defensive backs coach for the high school football team.
Weathers is a 2018 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he played under Vikings Head Coach Josh Morgan. Following high school, he attended Hinds Community College as a second-generation junior college walk-on and helped the Eagles earn a trip to the 2019 NJCAA Graphic Edge Bowl as a defensive back.
He later began his coaching career at Alcorn State University, where he served as a defensive student assistant and graduate assistant from 2021-25 under Head Coach Fred McNair.
While at Alcorn, Weathers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation along with a Master of Science degree in secondary education with a concentration in athletic administration and coaching. He previously earned an Associate of Arts degree from Hinds Community College.
Weathers is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in sports management at the United States Sports University. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Weathers, who has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism, continues to inspire others through his accomplishments both on and off the field.
