Library to host history series

Vicksburg-Warren County Public Library will present a double feature lecture series with special guest Charles Beightol.

The library located at 700 Veto Street in Vicksburg has announced the special event will be held in the Meeting Room.

The guest speaker, Beightol, is a staff biologist with the Vicksburg National Military Park and a paleontologist who contributed to a scientific paper on the discovery of a new spinosaur species. He has shared his research and field experience widely, including work in the Sahara Desert in Niger, where he participated in the spinosaur discovery.

At 5:30 p.m., Beightol will present Lecture #1, “Into the Sahara: Adventures and Discoveries Behind a New Spinosaur”. and at 6:15 p.m. he will present the second lecture, “Heat, Physiology, and Deep Time: Reassessing Thermophysiology of Dimetrodon”.
