Shane Lewis joins Mississippi Christian University baseball coaching staff
CLINTON, Miss. (VDN) —
Vicksburg native Shane Lewis has begun the next chapter of his baseball career after joining the coaching staff at Mississippi Christian University.
The university recently announced that the former Warren Central High School and Troy University standout has been hired as a graduate assistant for the Choctaws baseball program.
Lewis concluded his collegiate playing career in 2025 after earning numerous accolades during his time at Troy. His honors included being named the 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year and Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. He also earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Southeast Region First Team honors, ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team recognition, and was selected to the All-Sun Belt First Team in 2023.
Additionally, Lewis was a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist in 2023, earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors twice during the 2023 season and again during the opening week of the 2025 season, and was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team in 2024.
Lewis’ sophomore season was the highlight of his collegiate career. He started all 62 games, recording 217 at-bats while batting .286. He led the Trojans in slugging percentage (.705), on-base percentage (.436), runs scored (62), RBIs (77), home runs (27), total bases (153) and walks (45). His 27 home runs set Troy’s single-season program record.
