Asha’s Kitchen – a food review by Bethany Young

I’ve tried Indian food a time or two before, but I’ve never had anything as full of spice, mouthwatering, and life-altering as this butter chicken from Asha’s Kitchen.

Now please don’t come for me about how ignorant I am to Indian food. I didn’t have a clue what I was getting into here, and I was intimidated as all get out. However, butter chicken is about to be a staple in my household.

I got the butter chicken as a gift because I was having a bad day at work. My sister-in-law mentioned that a regular at her job was selling plates. Y’all know me by now, I love a good plate. Well, I got this food and I was apprehensive as all get out. This did not look like anything I had ever had before.

Y’all know that episode of spongebob when Squidward tastes a Krabby Patty for the first time? Yeah, that was me. I took one bite of this chicken, and melted to the floor. When I tell you it was so juicy and savory and just cooked to perfection I really mean it. The seasonings were so powerful but they weren’t overwhelming. I don’t know how else to explain it other than I got punched in the face with flavor… and I loved it.

I mixed the onions in with the sauce and rice, and the kick from the onions was mellowed out perfectly. The bread? I don’t have a clue what kind of bread that was, but it was light, it was fluffy, it was sweet, it made me want to slap my mama. When I try to describe this meal, the only way I can is perfectly balanced. The way the flavors were so complimentary was so unique and impressive. I truly look forward to trying this delicious food again, and thank you kindly to Asha’s Kitchen for giving me the opportunity to expand my culinary horizons.
