Co-Lin welcomes Joe Joe Tharp as new head women’s soccer coach
Wesson, Miss. (Co-Lin Athletics) — The Copiah-Lincoln Community College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Joe Joe Tharp of Brandon, Mississippi, as the new head women’s soccer coach.
“I’m excited to get into this already amazing program that the previous coach, Tom Cosgrave helped build back up,” started Tharp. “My goal is to continue building in a way that shapes not only a team and athletes that win games, but also a great atmosphere that everyone wants to be a part of.”
Tharp brings over a decade of club soccer coaching experience with him to Co-Lin spending that time with Jackson Futbol Club and Mississippi Rush Soccer. After graduating from Brandon High School, Tharp attended Hinds Community College where he played for the Eagles on the men’s soccer team from 2014-16. Tharp was part of the 2014 team that won a North Division title and earned a spot in the MACJC State Tournament.
After graduating from Hinds with an Associates Degree in 2016, he attended Mississippi State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in December of 2019. He and his wife, Anna, are parents to one daughter Lennon, 2.
“We are thrilled to welcome Joe as our new head women’s soccer coach,” stated Co-Lin Athletic Director Bryan Nobile. “He has a natural ability to connect with and mentor student-athletes. His culture on and off the field aligns perfectly with our vision for the program, and we are confident that under his leadership, we will continue to build on our tradition of success.”
“Co-Lin has already treated me incredibly and I hope to instill that same passion into the players of this program for years to come,” added Tharp.
