Flash flooding will occur in our area – turn around, don’t drown

The National Weather Service in Jackson has declared an Elevated to Significant threat of Flash Flooding to occur in our area.

Vicksburg and Warren County are just above the Significant threat line and have an Elevated threat of Flash Flooding from now until Thursday.

Up to three inches of additional rain are possible for our area with a storm total of eight to ten inches possible. Widespread flash flooding is likely. Numerous roads will flood, close or be washed out. It is likely structures will be flooded and water rescues needed, according to the alert. Minor river flooding is likely, moderate river flooding is possible.

Do not cross a flooded roadway. Most deaths in a flood occur when people try to cross a flooded roadway. Turn around, don’t drown.
