Fred Uzzle

Born on January 22, 1940, Fred Uzzle Jr. was the eldest of nine children born to Bessie and Fred Uzzle Sr.

In Fred Jr.’s early years, he met and shared a desk with a girl who would one day become the love of his life. What began as innocent desk mates grew into a love that withstood the tests of time.

Fred Jr. was a faithful member of the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg in Vicksburg MS. He loved his church and his God with all of his mind, body, heart, and soul until the very end.

Some of Fred Jr.’s greatest joys in life included: church, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren, telling them stories about the, as he would call it, the ‘good old days’ resulting many times in the common phrase: “Tell us another story, Grandpa”.

Fred Jr. is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Fred Sr. and Bessie Brooks Uzzle, his siblings: Harry, Jerry, Steve, Wayne, George, JoCarol, Carolyn, and Lois, and his daughter, Sonya Lynn Barrett.

Fred Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ethel (Janie) Uzzle, children, Susan (Charlie) Sharp, Brian (Betty) Uzzle, Michael Uzzle, and Julie (Glynn) Parks, 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

Visitation will be at Apostolic Church of Vicksburg on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Church of Vicksburg with Rev. John Parks, Jr., Rev. Glynn Parks and Rev. Scott Shelton, presiding over the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Abigail Parks, Michael Uzzle, Marcus Emfinger, Keith Uzzle, Matt Uzzle, Wayne Uzzle, Cody Parks, and Trent Parks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Uzzle, Glynn Parks, Scott Shelton, Alvin Ashley, Dallas Keith, John Marc Emfinger, Caden Emfinger and John L. Emfinger.
