Gators crush Lanier on senior night
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg High School baseball team dominated Lanier in a senior night doubleheader sweep, winning 25-0 and 17-2 to improve to 13-12 on the season under head coach Brandon Kincaid.
Both games were shortened to three innings due to the run rule as the Gators quickly overwhelmed Lanier.
In Game 1, Nick Carson delivered a standout performance with a home run, an inside-the-park home run and a triple. Allan Allen went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Abel Gonzalez finished with two hits and two RBIs. Jacarey Burks added two hits and three RBIs. Kolten Thomas contributed a double and two RBIs, while Ashton Harris recorded one hit and one RBI. Jordan Clay had five runs and one hit.
On the mound, Kobe Cartwright tossed a no-hitter and struck out six batters.
In Game 2, Vicksburg secured a 17-2 win behind more strong offensive production. Carson and Kayden Ross each hit a double, with Carson also driving in two runs. Clay added one hit, while Allen and Harris each recorded one hit and one RBI.
Gonzalez earned the win on the mound, striking out nine batters.
