Vicksburg native James Anderson was recognized by the city of Vicksburg for helping a man who was going into a diabetic coma.

When Anderson was walking down the street on Sunday morning, he witnessed a car parked at an event center.

A few hours later he noticed something was wrong. The man in the vehicle was unresponsive and in a diabetic coma.

After cars continued to pass by he was able to flag down a Vicksburg Police Officer who called in for help. The man who was in the car was flown to Jackson for medical treatment.

Anderson has been called a “guardian angel” by Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr., who proudly recognized him at the Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting on Thursday.

Anderson is an example of a true hometown hero who didn’t think twice to reach out and help someone in need.
