CLINTON, Miss. (VDN) —

Vicksburg native Jayla Hicks continues to make a name for herself both on and off the court after earning All-District volleyball honors following an impressive 2026 season.

Hicks, a junior at Clinton High School, has established herself as one of the team’s standout athletes while earning recognition among some of the district’s best volleyball players.

During the 2026 season, Hicks recorded 292 digs, 153 assist attempts and 29 service aces while finishing with a 91% serving percentage. Her performance also earned her Athlete of the Month honors, sponsored by Clinton State Farm agent Tim Bruss.

Hicks was also recognized as a Mississippi Gridiron Top Performer on at least three occasions this season. One of her best performances came when she recorded 17 digs, 13 assists and two aces for Clinton.

While volleyball has brought her plenty of recognition, Hicks has also found success in cheerleading.

She is a member of the CHS cheerleading team, which earned multiple awards during the summer at UCA Camp.

The team’s accomplishments included:

• Superior ratings for sideline and cheer evaluations.
• Superior ratings for camp routine evaluations.
• Two jump-off finalists with superior ribbons.
• Four Pin It Forward recipients.
• Seven All-American cheerleaders.
• UCA Traditions Award.

Adding to her list of accomplishments, Hicks recently served as a homecoming maid, another special moment in her high school journey.

However, her success goes beyond athletics and school activities. Hicks is also recognized for her impressive academic performance, showing that her dedication extends into the classroom.
