Juneteenth: Faith and Freedom and free popcorn at the Strand

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — In celebration of Juneteenth, the community is invited to a free screening of the award-winning documentary “Juneteenth: Faith and Freedom” on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the Strand Theatre in downtown Vicksburg, sponsored by Judge Toni Terrett.

The film, which runs 75 minutes, will be shown at two times: noon and 6 p.m. The screening is free to the public, but attendees are encouraged to reserve their seats in advance at https://formurl.com/to/Juneteenth.

“Juneteenth: Faith and Freedom” explores the rich spiritual and historical legacy of Juneteenth through a personal and powerful lens. The film reflects on themes of faith, resilience, and freedom that have shaped the Black American experience since emancipation.

Both showings will take place at The Strand Theatre, 717 Clay Street, in downtown Vicksburg.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is celebrated annually on June 19. It became a federal holiday in 2021 and continues to be honored nationwide through education, reflection, and community events.
