Ken’Darion Jones named Youth Pastor at Travelers Rest M.B. Church

19-year-old Ken’Darion Jones has been named Youth Pastor of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Jones officially earned the title last Thursday by Dr. General Bryant Jr who announced the exciting news.
Since the age of nine, Jones has been in-house preaching and by the age of 14, he preached his First Sermon titled “Two Streets, One Hell, and One Heaven.” He began preaching under the late Thomas E. Bernard at Travelers Rest where the two grew a strong bond.
“I always tried to sneak out of the children’s church and go into the real church because I wanted to hear Pastor Bernard who became a spiritual father to me,” Jones added.
Although Jones never saw himself preaching to children, he emphasized that God placed him in the right position.

“The first place God called me to pastor was my home church,” Jones said. “I never thought I could preach to the youth but I learned that you can preach to anybody so I’m ecstatic to help bring more youth because I believe we’re living in the generations that will soon turn back to Christ.”
Just a year ago Jones was graduating from Vicksburg High School, but since then he has spread the word of God in many places such as Pearl, Utica, Rolling Fork, Alabama, Atlanta, and many more cities.

Ken’Darion is the son of Regina Jones and the late Kennado Caples. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of seven and was baptized at Travelers Rest MB Church. He serves in many youth organizations(coach, trainer, spiritual counselor) throughout Vicksburg. Jones is also a student at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS, and plans to attend Mississippi State University where he will major in Business Administration/ Physical Education, and later pursue a Doctorate in Divinity.
