Lady Eagles are the South State runner-ups; multiple boys qualified for state

Porter’s Chapel Academy girls’ track and field team are the South State runner-ups after dominating on Friday.

Marley Bufkin came in first place in the long jump(14’8) and she also finished in second place in the 200m and 100m. Jae’la Smith brought home the blue ribbon in the high jump(5’2) as Mia Abdo came in second(4’6). Smith also finished second in the 300m hurdles.

The triple jump belonged to Abdo(29-01) while Smith, Bufkin, Abdo, and Ansley Conway came in first in the 4×200(1:57.82). Abdo, Bufkin, Smith, and Audrey Carraway came out on top in the 4×100(56.03). Smith and Carraway came in second in the 4×400(4:43.98).

Boys:

Jase Jung earned second place in the high jump(5’10) while Henry Slayton placed second in the 800m(2:15.50),300m hurdles (47.86), 4×200, 4×100, and the 4×400. Lakelan Pecanty finished fourth in the long jump while Tyler Halter came in third in the 3,200.

Pecanty, Jung, Taylor LaBarre, and Slayton came in third in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×200 and 4×100.

The state meet will be held next week.
