Lady Vikes sweep Canton in dominant doubleheader

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Warren Central High School softball team crushed Canton in a doubleheader on Tuesday night. The Lady Vikes took game one with a 19-1 win and followed it with a 20-0 victory in game two.

In game one, Warren Central finished with 10 hits. Anzley Keen hit a triple and finished with two hits and two RBIs. Maddy Pant hit a double and also finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Emily Muirhead collected two hits.

KeKe McKay hit a triple and drove in three RBIs, while Mary Clell Allred hit a double. Laney Bennett (1 RBI) and KK Williamson (1 RBI) each recorded a hit. Addi Mullen and MK Ferguson each finished with one RBI.

Eighth-grader Raegan Dean showed her skills in the circle as she threw her first varsity no-hitter while striking out eight batters.

“This was a great win,” Dean said. “We worked really hard tonight and I’m glad I was able to strike out a lot of people.”

In game two, the Lady Vikes collected 11 hits in the 20-0 victory.

Keen (2 RBIs), McKay (1 RBI), Allred (2 RBIs) and Olivia Maher each hit a triple. Muirhead (3 RBIs) hit two doubles, while Mullen and Catlin Lewis (3 RBIs) each recorded a double.

Bennett and Joli Blackard each had a hit, while Ferguson added an RBI.

Muirhead also shined in the circle as she threw her first varsity perfect game, finishing with nine strikeouts while allowing zero hits and zero runs.
