Laura Sharp’s dream of LaBelle Boutique now a reality

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Laura Sharp is finally seeing her dream come true as she prepares to open LaBelle Boutique this Saturday, July 25.

Sharpe said everything began in 2017 when she and her husband, Marcus discussed her goals in life. She was split between always wanting to be a business owner and wanting to be a nurse. The couple decided to launch their store L&M. She said after awhile she decided it was the right time for her to return to school.

Her husband encouraged her to go to school to earn her nursing license which she received in the height of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020.

She began working at Merit Health River Region where she continues to work today.

“I wanted to get back to the business side of things, but Covid kind of put a halt to it. Every time I wanted to give up Marcus kept telling me to keep doing it, and so I kept pushing through,” said Sharp.

She said she just couldn’t shake to feeling of wanting to do something for the community. She wanted to provide a place where women could afford fashionable clothing and styles that would be affordable and not be too expensive.

“One day I came home and there were shipment boxes everywhere. Marcus had ordered it all,” said Sharp. “He told me ‘Do it. If this is your dream, and don’t give up.'”

Then in December of 2025, Marcus passed away. Still she thought back to the encouragement he always gave her.

“I realized this has always been my dream, and I thought, ‘Okay Marcus, you might not be here. You might be an angel, but I’m going to do this,'” said Sharp.

She approached the leadership at the Vicksburg Mall and realized it would be a great time to open up a store in the mall due to new investors and expected growth as the movie cinema and other stores prepare to breath new life into the building.

After thought, Sharp said she wanted to honor her mother who had passed away so the brand L&M became LaBelle Boutique in remembrance of her grandmother, Laura Bell Brisco.

LaBelle Boutique will offer a wide variety of women’s clothing including tops, pants, dresses and two-piece ensembles. Sizes range from small to plus-sized including 3X and 4X. The store will also sell wigs, jewelry, accessories, and purses. And, inspired by Sharp’s career as a nurse, will offer nursing scrubs and other healthcare clothing accessories.

“None of the clothing or outfits will be about $30,” said Sharp. “I really did just want to make things affordable to women.”

The store will hold its grand opening this Saturday, July 25. The hours will be Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday the store will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sunday the hours will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

“Everyone plan to come out this Saturday! We will have snacks and sales!” said Sharp. “I just want to thank everyone and can’t wait for the support from the community!”
