VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Local musicians are coming together for a good cause this Saturday, July 26, at the BB Club for a benefit to raise funds for Jacob’s Ladder Learning Center and Special Olympics Area 10.

The all-ages event, titled “Harmony and Humanity”, will be from 3 to 10 p.m., with a $10 cover charge at the door (children 12 and under are free). All proceeds will go to the organizations.

“I’m just really happy that I got a chance to make some friends at Jacob’s Ladder and have an opportunity to do something for them,” said Jena Moulder, the organizer of the event. “They have been so nice to me this year…really just the nicest people.”

Local vendors will set up on the lower level, where pianist Chris Nash will also perform. LillyAnn’s Italian Ice Cream truck and Gumbo Pot will be set up outside.

Bands ranging from blues to sludge will take the upstairs stage throughout the evening, with the heavier bands taking the later time-slots.

The music lineup includes:

  • The Goodins
  • The Blues Experience
  • Placeholder
  • Downhill
  • The Sky Imposed Its Will…
  • Fun Destroyer
  • Seahag
  • Chief City

“Jordan [Wilson, Moulder’s boyfriend] and I got a chance to help out with the Special Olympics Area 10 this year after meeting them, and it was just amazing seeing how motivated our new friends were out there,” Moulder said. “I believe that the Special Olympics is something so inspiring and such an amazing opportunity for people to come together and really show us how talented they are.”

This isn’t the first time the local musicians have come together under Moulder’s organization and planning skills. Last November, she organized the “For the Kids” fest where over $1900 and a large number of toys were collected for local women’s shelters leading into the holiday season.

The B.B. Club is located at 721 Clay Street, Vicksburg.
