Missy Gators crushed Ridgeland 15-2 on Thursday
Vicksburg High School softball team run-ruled Ridgeland 15-2 on Thursday as they picked up a big district win.
“We did good and we played as a team and stayed motivated throughout the game,” Zion Harvey said.
The Lady Titans got on the board first from a couple of errors to go up 2-0. Zion Harvey hit a double and eventually earned the Missy Gators’ first run from a steal to put the score at 2-1.
The second inning would be a blessing for VHS as they picked up six runs after Harmony Harris, Trinity McGloster and Camden McGloster all hit singles while Avery VanNorman and Harvey both smashed doubles to give VHS a 7-2 lead.
The game would only get better for VHS in third as they scored seven more runs after Harvey, VanNorman and Harris all hit doubles while Makynzie Dunmore hit an inside-the-park home run that put the Missy Gators ahead 14-2. In the fourth and final inning, VanNorman hit another double and eventually got the final run just moments later after a steal of home.
VanNorman(3 RBIs), Harvey(2 RBIs), Harris(2 RBIs) and Camden McGloster each had three hits in the win. Trinity McGloster went 2 for 4 with one RBI while Dunmore(2 RBIs) and Amari Johnson each had a hit. Seventh grader Madisyn Kimble also had on run.
Lili Kistler pitched all four innings where she struck out four batters.
“This was a really big relief for us but we have to be aggressive and make those routine plays,” Head Coach Briana Knox said. “I’m hoping they bring the same energy from today for when we play again next week.”
