Nailor named City Attorney
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native and former city attorney Kim Nailor has once again been named city attorney.
Nailor resigned as city attorney in early April 2024. She then opened a law office with Tiffany Pendleton, who had also recently resigned as the Chief of Staff for former Mayor George Flaggs.
Nailor, who is the sister of Judge Toni Walker Terrett and J’Nitra Walker Brown, grew up in Vicksburg. “We grew up in the rural part of the county where we only had three families neighboring us. Every summer, my mother took us to the Warren County Library, where we volunteered to work with my aunt Lottie Walker (former children’s librarian).”
A 1999 graduate of Vicksburg High School, Nailor says her desire to become an attorney started at the Warren County Library. “Our family would travel for vacation each summer. Our mother required that we read books while riding in our family’s van to our vacation destination. I developed a love for legal thrillers, mystery and Stephen King novels. When I was either 9 or 10, I read “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Reading about the fierce advocacy of Atticus Finch coupled with me watching my weekly childhood idol, the fictious Claire Huxtable from the Cosby Show, fueled my desire for me to become an attorney.”
Nailor went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Alcorn State University in 2003 and passed the bar in February 2006. “Fun Fact: I found out I was pregnant with my son, Cameron, while taking the 2006 bar exam,” Nailor continued, “When I became barred to practice law on May 2, 2006, I was six months and very obviously pregnant. I went into private practice from May 2, 2006.” From there Nailor worked in private practice, with the Department of Human Services and as the Attorney for the City of Vicksburg.
The city also named Keona Henry Associate City Attorney and prosecutor. Steven McMillan has been named the City Prosecutor.
