Nasty Weather Headed Our Way
VICKSBURG, Miss – Severe thunderstorms with possible tornadoes and hail are forecast for the Warren County area today and tonight.
The National Weather Service in Jackson is forecasting significant severe thunderstorms for the Vicksburg, Warren County area. They are warning that tornadoes are likely, with some possibly strong and long-tracked, damaging wind gusts of 70 to 80 mph and large hail up to golf ball size. Multiple rounds of storms are possible throughout the day.
Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.
The Vicksburg, Warren County area is predicted to have the worst part hit in the late afternoon and throughout the evening.

If you have to seek shelter from menacing weather, your best option is to seek shelter in a well-built structure. Stay away from windows. Most people who are injured or killed in a severe storm of this nature are hit by flying debris. If flash floods develop do not cross a flooded roadway. Most people who drown in a flood do so after crossing a flooded roadway.
