New training aircraft to be unveiled at Hinds on Wednesday

RAYMOND, Miss. (VDN) — Hinds Community College (HCC) will introduce a new training aircraft for its aviation program during an unveiling event at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at John Bell Williams Airport, located near the Raymond Campus at 4100 Airport Road, Bolton, MS 39041.
The Cessna 172, a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing aircraft, will be used to train aviation students pursuing careers as pilots. The Cessna 172 is used for instrument rating and commercial pilot training. Many flight schools use this aircraft for different phases of pilot development because of its adaptability. It’s versatile, therefore it makes a trusted training aircraft for various climates and altitudes.
U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, who helped secure federal funding for the purchase, will deliver remarks. Also scheduled to speak are Hinds President Dr. Stephen Vacik and Aviation Director Brett Oleis.
With six campuses in central Mississippi, Hinds Community College is a comprehensive institution offering quality, affordable educational opportunities with academic programs of study leading to seamless university transfer and career and technical programs teaching job-ready skills.
