Petal High hires former WC baseball coach Conner Douglas
PETAL, Miss. (VDN) — Former Warren Central High School baseball coach Conner Douglas has been named the new head baseball coach at Petal High School.
Douglas officially accepted the position Tuesday and will succeed Jake Mills, who recently took over as head coach at Madison Central High School.
“It’s a tradition-rich program,” Douglas said of Petal athletics. “They’ve got six state championships, and not many schools can say that. Right when I started coaching, they won the state championship when I got out of college.
“It’s a destination job. They feed baseball player after baseball player into the program. The community really supports it, and I am excited about getting here.”
Douglas served as head coach at Warren Central from 2012 to 2019, then led Long Beach High School’s baseball program from 2019 to 2020. Most recently, he worked as assistant athletic director and assistant baseball coach at Northwest Rankin High School.
