Pete Dionne: Nov. 29, 1956-Dec. 16, 2024
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Peter James Dionne passed away on December 16, 2024.
Pete was born on November 29, 1956, in the Bronx, New York, to Alexander Arthur Dionne and Margaret Irene Dionne. He carried his New York accent with him his whole life. Even after he had been in the South for many decades everybody who talked to him knew he “wasn’t from around here.” He was always quick with a joke, and tried to make people laugh no matter what the circumstance. He loved people and holidays. He loved telling stories and riddles. He especially loved his two grandsons and always made sure that they had a Merry Christmas and very happy birthdays. He also loved his old cars. He was President of the Vicksburg Cruisers Car Club for many years and enjoyed driving and working on old cars. We will miss you, Pete. We will miss your jokes, even the ridiculous ones, and Christmas will not be the same without you.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his son Steven Dionne, sister Lynette Toms, and sister Linda Risco.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sara Carlson Dionne, daughter Julia Blake (Nicholas), grandsons Patrick and Andrew Blake, brother Alex Dionne, and sister Lillian Dean.
Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., Father Robert Dore, celebrant. Burial will follow in Redbone Cemetery.
