VICKSBURG, Miss. – Barbia Jean Reeves passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the age of 84. Born in Sturgis, MS, she was the daughter of the late B.L. and Eula Reeves. Reeves was a resident of Vicksburg since childhood. She was a graduate of Carr Central High School, Clark Jr. College and Mississippi College before receiving her Master’s Degree from Mississippi State University. She was a retired educator and was employed by the Vicksburg Post after her retirement. Reeves was an active member of Highland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother, William “Buddy” Reeves (Frances) of Vicksburg; two nieces, Beth Rambo (Dicky) of Columbus, MS and Melissa Wooten (Barry) of Hattiesburg, MS; two great-nephews, Tim Summers, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Alex Wooten of Greenville, SC; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Services will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 30 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. in Vicksburg. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Floyd, Buck Burgess, Charlie Bennett, Keith Gordon, Hunter Lynch, and David Pugh.
