Rain chances increase Thursday, with heavy showers expected Friday in Vicksburg area
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A quiet night will give way to an unsettled stretch of weather, with showers and thunderstorms likely Thursday and a higher risk of heavy rain Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with calm winds and lows around 71. On Thursday, expect mostly sunny skies early, but showers and thunderstorms are likely late in the day, especially after 5 p.m. Highs will reach near 90 with a 60% chance of rain.
Rain will continue Thursday night, with storms likely before and after midnight. Lows will dip to around 69, and some areas could see between a half-inch and three-quarters of an inch of rain.
Friday will bring the highest rain chances of the week, with showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day and a 90% chance of precipitation. Highs will be cooler, near 80, and rainfall could total up to an inch.
Friday night will see lingering showers before 7 p.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies and lows near 68.
Saturday may offer some improvement, but scattered showers and possible thunderstorms remain in the forecast, mainly in the afternoon. Highs will be around 82 with light northeast winds.
