Second Saturday to Feature New Orleans songstress Shawn Williams with Omari Neville
Vicksburg’s Second Saturday has always been a wonderful snapshot into the pulse of the delta music scene. From Alt-jazz, contemporary country, blues jams, to singer-songwriters, the breadth of music you’ll find floating through downtown Vicksburg on any given Second Saturday can eventually satisfy any music lover.
This month’s performance will be Shawn Williams, from New Orleans, at Washington Street Park this Saturday from 3:00pm – 6:00pm.
Hailing from the melting pot of New Orleans, Shawn Williams makes music that’s every bit as diverse and hauntingly soulful as her hometown. She calls it “alt-rocka countrybilly, serial killer blues,” carving out an atmospheric sound that blends amplified guitars, rawly honest lyrics, and nocturnal arrangements into her own brand of Americana-noire.
Alongside her tomorrow will be Omari Neville, the son of Cyril Neville (of The Meters, Neville Brother’s fame). Neville shows his roots and upbringing with an updated sound flavored with reggae, punk, soul, and R & B seasonings.
Nate Hoben, who does the bookings for Second Saturday said “Really excited to have Shawn perform at Second Saturday! Her music is intriguing and lyrically captivating, she has a style of her own and with Omari backing her on drums makes for the quintessential duo.”
Hoben also thanked the Watermark for sponsoring this event.
Second Saturday is free and open to the public. Lawn Chairs are encouraged.
