Sedric Lawrence installed as pastor of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —

Rev. Sedric Lawrence officially began a new chapter in his ministry Sunday after being installed as the new pastor of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church during a pastoral installation service attended by church members, family, friends and fellow ministers.

Lawrence and his wife, First Lady LaTonia Lawrence, were honored during the celebration as the congregation welcomed its new spiritual leader.

The installation service featured words of encouragement from several men of faith who offered Lawrence guidance and support as he officially assumed leadership of the church. His pastor, the Rev. Joseph Brisco, delivered the installation sermon, while Angela Harris presented the charge to the First Lady.

During the service, Lawrence reflected on his journey and thanked God for making the moment possible, describing the appointment as the fulfillment of a calling that has shaped his life and ministry.

A Vicksburg native, Lawrence has served in ministry for more than 20 years, dedicating himself to preaching, teaching, discipleship and community outreach. He accepted Christ at an early age, was licensed to preach the Gospel in 2008 and was ordained in 2010.

Lawrence earned an Associate of Divinity in 2009 before receiving a Bachelor of Theology in 2012, preparing him for a lifetime of pastoral leadership. Throughout his ministry, he served as a son of the house at Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Reginald Harris and at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Vasesph Brisco Sr.

Known for his Christ-centered preaching and dedication to serving others, Lawrence has built a reputation for faithfully teaching God’s Word while encouraging spiritual growth within the communities he serves.

He is the son of the late Rev. Wilbert Doss and Willia Marie Anderson. Lawrence and his wife, LaTonia, have been married for 24 years and are the parents of two adult children, Amber and Patrick.
