Skeletal remains that were found near Camp Shelby in October of 2022 have been identified.

On October 20, 2022, skeletal remains were located in a wooded area near Camp Shelby.

The remains were sent to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory for further examination and analysis. A DNA genetic profile was able to be extracted from the remains, and this DNA profile was subsequently sent to Othram Labs, the world’s first private DNA laboratory built specifically to apply the power of modern parallel sequencing to forensic evidence, for a potential genetic match. Through a coordinated effort with Othram, the FCSO was able to positively identify the remains as Kimberly Ann Hall. The incident remains under investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
