Soulful Addiction opens on Tuesday in downtown Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Soulful Addiction, a new soul food restaurant, will open tomorrow, April 22, 2025. The new restaurant will be located inside the Watermark Vicksburg at 1415 Washington Street in downtown Vicksburg. 

Owner and Chef Dewayne Smith expressed his excitement about his new business, which will serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“I’m opening up the Soulful Addiction tomorrow and we’ll be specializing in breakfast and lunch items,” Smith said. “I’m going to be cooking food that touches the soul so I’m excited that I got this opportunity here.”

Smith mentioned that they plan to serve chicken & waffles and breakfast sandwiches, as well as other breakfast staples for the morning offerings. For lunch, Soulful Addiction will serve catfish, blue plate specials, meatloaf, and more.

“They won’t be disappointed,” Smith said. “When our customers come in they will see that the food tastes like home. It’s a good friendly atmosphere and everyone is happy to be here.”

Smith has been cooking for over three decades, helping various owners open restaurants along the way, and is excited for the opportunity to work in his own kitchen. After the closing of the Biscuit Company, where Smith worked as kitchen manager, Smith took this last year to create plans to open his own spot

“I’m real grateful that Daryl Hollingsworth and Amber Morton for helping me out with this,” Smith added.

Soulful Addition will open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for breakfast, and lunch from 11:00 to 3 p.m., Monday-Friday. They will also open on Friday nights from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
