St. Aloysius name Brogdon as Head Football Coach

Vicksburg, Mississippi – April 25, 2025 – Vicksburg Catholic School is proud to announce the promotion of Michael “Bumper” Brogdon as the new head football coach, effective immediately. Brogdon, who has been a key member of the Flashes Football Program this year and has served most recently as Defensive Coordinator/ Assistant Coach will now take the helm of the program moving forward.
“This is a tremendous moment for our football program,” said Dawn Meeks, Principal of St Aloysius High School. “We are excited to elevate Coach Brogdon to the head coach position. His leadership, dedication, and extensive knowledge of our team make him the perfect fit for continuing the success of the program. He has shown us is his time here that he is committed to not only developing great athletes but also building outstanding young men of character.”
Coach Bumper Brogdon brings a wealth of experience to the position. He has over 20 years of coaching experience and has worked closely with the team over the past year to help turn our football program around. His understanding of the team’s style of play and his ability to connect with players on a personal level have earned him respect from both athletes and our staff.
“I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to lead this incredible group of student-athletes,” said Coach Brogdon. “I’ve seen firsthand the hard work, passion, and determination of everyone involved in this program, and I am excited to build upon the foundation we’ve laid.
Our focus will be on excellence both on and off the field, and I am confident that we can continue to achieve great things together.”
As the new head coach, Coach Brogdon will work closely with the team to prepare for the upcoming season and implement his vision for the future. He will focus on fostering a positive culture of accountability, discipline, and growth while ensuring that every player reaches their fullest potential.
Coach Brogdon said, “St Aloysius is a special place with fantastic students, teachers, and administrators. Although I have lived in Warren County all my life, I never knew the rich history and traditions that are such an important part of this school. It is a place where they truly do educate the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. I am very proud to be here at St Aloysius and I look forward to the challenge. Go Flashes!”
