Stacey Lee inducted into the VWSD Athletics Hall of Fame

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Stacey Lee was inducted into the Vicksburg-Warren School District Athletics Hall of Fame on Sept. 18 at the Vicksburg Convention Center, where she was recognized for her standout career in basketball and track and field at Vicksburg High School.
“First I want to give honor to God,” Lee said. “Thank you to my family, friends, the committee, my husband and siblings.”
Raised in “the bottom,” Lee said she was a product of her environment and credited her family for much of her success. The oldest of six children, she came from a family of athletes and shared memories at the ceremony of her cousin making bets on her racing his friends while growing up.
VWSD Athletics Director James Lewis introduced Lee before she accepted her recognition in front of a large crowd.
Lee’s name has long echoed in Vicksburg High School’s history. She earned multiple district, north state and state championships in track and field from 1987 to 1991, and was named the Most Valuable Runner in 1991. On the basketball court, she received the Captain Award, Best Defensive Player Award, the Gator Award, and the Sixth Man Award. She was also named “Most Athletic” in her graduating class.
