VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Strand Theatre will feature the John Carpenter film Starman this Saturday, August 24, at 7 p.m., and of course the popcorn is free.

Lisa and John Martin have sponsored a movie every August for a few years. This year it’s Starman, a 1984 science fiction, road movie, romance directed by John Carpenter.

About the film John says, “You will be captivated by the poignant portrayal of human connection and the enigmatic mysteries of the universe. And there’s free popcorn.”

“We have the new 40th Anniversary 4k restoration with Atmos sound for this show about which the Digital Bits says “this new 4K version of Starman is an unambiguously reference-quality presentation of the film,” proclaimed the Strand.

Starman stood out among sci-fi films by earning the only Academy Award nomination for acting. Other films in the genre, like E.T., Star Wars, and Aliens won in technical categories.

Advance tickets are available at Highway 61 Coffeehouse for $9, tickets at the door will be $10 each.
