VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park and Campaign will host this year’s Symphony at Sunset in partnership with Four Seasons of the Arts, the Vicksburg National Military Park, and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra as part of Memorial Day weekend.

The theme for this is “Patriotic and Pops.” The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take place Saturday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in front of the park’s visitor center. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of live music on the historic battlefield.

“This is the perfect way to honor the individuals who died in service to our nation,” said Bess Averett, executive director of Friends of VNMP and Campaign. “Hearing patriotic music on hallowed ground adds a special meaning to the experience. We’re thrilled to partner with MSO and Four Seasons of the Arts to bring this event to Vicksburg, and we deeply appreciate the VNMP staff for supporting unique programming like this.”

Additional parking is available across the street in the lot adjacent to the Hampton Inn.

Friends of VNMP and Campaign credited generous sponsors for helping make this year’s Symphony at Sunset possible.
